Ours became a family-owned and operated law firm in 1966, when Ray Stack first joined his father Edward Raymond Stack, under the new name E R Stack and Son. 

It was later amended to E R Stack and Sons in 1970, when Edward’s second son, Maurie, joined the firm, followed several years later by his third son, Tim. 

Continued growth and a deeper integration into the community saw the name evolve to Stacks Law Firm in the early 1980s.

E R Stack never forgot his humble beginnings. He devoted his life to providing a friendly and highly skilled service to the members of the community who came to his door. 

That ethos, of providing specialist legal services in a friendly manner and at an affordable price, was passed on to his three sons. They in turn have passed on their knowledge and skills to the directors of the now incorporated Stacks Taree Pty Ltd, where Tim Stack still serves as chairman of the board. 

Today Stacks Law Firm, Taree has grown to a team of over 40 dedicated local staff. It is a member of Stacks Law Group, with access to the combined knowledge and experience of a robust network of lawyers across NSW and Queensland.

Stacks Law Firm, Taree is an active member of the local business chamber, Team Taree. A standout event in the social calendar is the Taree and District Eisteddfod, which each year attracts thousands of young competitors from near and far. Tim Stack has been its president since 1978, overseeing the growth of this annual event from a small competition, to what is now the largest eisteddfod in country Australia, providing many young performers with opportunities leading them to the national and world stage.

Stacks Law Firm, Taree organises the eisteddfod’s Smile Scholarship Fund, which awards a minimum of ten scholarships annually, enabling recipients to access private tuition in music and dance, buy new musical instruments and attend workshops to improve their knowledge.

We continue to sponsor many charities and fundraising events, including the RSL and Golf Club Le Tour de Taree, Ride for Pink, Biggest Morning Tea, Jeans for Genes, Ronald McDonald House, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and the Australian Children’s Music Foundation.
