David specialises in contested Estates. He is also an Accredited Specialist in Family Law, as well as conducting criminal cases and employment law matters. He has been with Stacks since being admitted in 1988, and has a vast knowledge in contested Estates and in Family law. A member of the Australian Institute of Family Lawyers, and a qualified mediator, David has now been practicing law for 20 years and is a highly respected member of the Stacks team.

He has run many Criminal Law matters in the Local and District Courts, ranging from drink driving offences, to Apprehended Violence Orders (AVO’s) and drug offences. David has recently been involved in a criminal case where his client was charged with home invasion, as a result of his fingerprint being found on a piece of tape at the location. The case continues.

David achieved a large financial settlement for his client in reported case Bree v Lupevo, an anti-discrimination matter involving a man unfairly dismissed because he wore an earring to work.

David believes in getting to the core issues quickly and dealing with them in a timely manner. His down-to-earth nature, coupled with his excellent knowledge of practice and procedure, and his ability to explain the legal process in plain English, is greatly appreciated by his clients. David is an excellent negotiator and is able to resolve disputes quickly, an essential skill in Family Law matters .

David has conducted numerous Family Provision Act claims, acting on behalf of both Plaintiffs and Estates, and has many years of experience in this area. Many of his matters do not even reach court, and settlements exceeding $300,000.00 have been achieved on a number of occasions.

Outside the office, you may find David playing classical guitar at any number of venues, including restaurants, corporate functions and weddings. With an Associate of Music in Classical Guitar (A.Mus.A), and represented by EAO Entertainment in Newcastle, David is a talented guitarist who has released 3 albums, including ‘Just Classical’, ‘Virtuosity’ and most recently, ‘Classical Flair’. David also has a passion for ballroom dancing, specifically Latin, New Vogue and Modern, and has competed inter-state and overseas, including the South Pacific Ballroom Dance Championships.
