Quentin Schneider's FULL PROFILE
Quentin Schneider - Lawyer
Stacks/The Law Firm, Taree
Victoria St, Taree
Quentin’s main area of work is Family law, and he also conducts matters in Criminal law and general litigation. Admitted in 1990 and a practicing solicitor for 5 years, he acquired a great deal of experience in the field of law prior to commencing at Stacks/Taree, including working as Legal Editor for LexisNexis, lecturing in Business Law and Insolvency at Waikato Polytechnic in Hamilton, New Zealand, and working as a solicitor for a number of Sydney law firms. He was also an Infantry Corporal in the Army Reserve for 3 years and has been awarded the Australian Defence Medal for his service as an Infantry Corporal. A member of the Law Society of NSW, the Family Law section of the Law Council of Australia, the Hunter Valley Family Law Practitioners Association, and the Mental Health Solicitors Panel for Taree (Legal Aid), Quentin is a dedicated lawyer with sound research skills and a can-do approach.
Quentin’s patience and empathetic nature, ensure that his clients are made to feel at ease and are kept well informed about each step in the legal process. He has conducted matters ranging from neighbour disputes and Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (ADVO’s), to drug offences, drivers license matters, and parenting proceedings with drawn out court battles. Quentin once acted for a client who arrived at the Stacks office with her luggage, fresh from an overseas trip, having returned home to find strangers had taken up residence and correctly blamed her separated husband for renting her house out so she had nowhere to stay upon her return.
He took great pride in successfully fighting for an 85 year old client to have his license reinstated.
Quentin has often acted for clients of non-English speaking background, and speaks a little Indonesian.
Quentin frequently resolves family property settlements with financial agreements or court orders by consent, without the need for any disputed court proceedings. He has sought injunctions and other orders necessary to protect family law property interests early in contested proceedings.
He has successfully acted for many parents seeking recovery orders for their children who have not been returned by the other parent, as well as acting for parents who have relocated with a child, and successfully acted for parents who have thought the children were going on a holiday, but in fact were going with a parent who was relocating 600 km away.
Away from the office, he enjoys gardening and is a keen “noxious weed eradicator”. The father of three young children, Quentin enjoys spending time at home on his family’s cattle property. He is involved in the local community through his memberships to the Shorthorn Society of Australia, the Beef Shorthorn Society of Australia, and the RSL.
An energetic solicitor who enjoys a challenge, Quentin is a valued member of the Stacks team.
