Superannuation

Superannuation is no different to other assets which people may bring to, or accumulate during and after a relationship.

Should either person in a relationship wish, or need, to transfer a superannuation interest to the other person upon the ending of a relationship, then very specific procedures have to be followed. Certain superannuation arrangements have very specialised rules and valuations might not be straight forward.

You should seek legal advice about whether arrangements to transfer superannuation interests are necessary, and also to ensure that any arrangements are effectively implemented.
