Erin is an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law. Her areas of practice include medical negligence, workers’ compensation, work injury damages, motor accidents and public liability claims.
She completed her law degree in 2007 but also worked in the legal profession before and during her studies. She qualified for specialist accreditation in personal injury early because of her years of pre-admission experience.
Currently, Erin’s main area of interest is in medical negligence claims which she describes as being, at times, very technical and complex but incredibly interesting. Erin’s empathy and approachable nature is much appreciated by her clients and she complements this with a pragmatic and efficient approach to her work, as well as strong research and analytical skills. She was recently involved in the settlement of a catastrophic brain injury case for a young child in the sum of $5 million.
With a thorough knowledge of the legal and medical guidelines that apply to workers’ compensation and motor accident cases, Erin has been involved in a number of successful cases with unusual injuries, such as Q-fever, including many successful medical assessment appeals. She has also dealt with many novel or complex factual scenarios such as a single motor vehicle accident at work where the injured worker was the driver. The accident was ultimately held by the court to have arisen out of a defect in the vehicle and the employer was found to be negligent. As a result, the compensation paid to the injured worker was much greater than it otherwise would have been.
Erin is personable and easy going. She takes great pride in trying to make the legal process accessible by explaining complex law in plain English and keeping the lines of communication open. She is compassionate and caring, driven and resourceful.
Outside of work Erin has spent all her money on her love of attending live music performances and travelling through Europe with her husband and their young daughter. Thankfully for Stacks, and much to the delight of her clients here, this means she has to keep working! We’re determined to keep her here by encouraging these passions. It’s also good to have lawyers in our team who disprove the conventional belief that lawyers are boring.
