Hiliary worked as a law clerk at Stacks Law Firm Tamworth for two years before being admitted as a solicitor in September 2017. Being born and bred in Tamworth, Hiliary has an excellent understanding and knowledge of the area and its local issues and events. This assists her in her everyday practice, particularly with transactional work.
As a law clerk, she was mentored by the solicitors in her office in most areas of general legal practice, which helped her to develop skills in legal research, writing and drafting. It also exposed her to the many, varied types of law that regional law firms practice.
Hiliary has established strong working relationships with the firm’s clients, which will be an asset as she moves forward in her role as a solicitor. She has excellent communication skills and an innate sense of empathy for her clients, two ingredients that Hiliary believes are fundamental to achieving successful outcomes.
She has a particular interest in assisting clients with their commercial needs, including business and property related transactions, business and company structures, and debt recovery. Hiliary also likes working in wills and estates, including probate applications, estate administration and family provision matters. In her time working as a law clerk, she developed a good knowledge of drafting these critical documents, including power of attorney and enduring guardian.
When not working, Hiliary enjoys being outdoors, playing oztag and netball. She is also a keen reader. She likes trying new recipes, travelling and is slowly learning Spanish.
In 2016, Hiliary won the Tamworth Showgirl Competition and was a finalist at the 2017 Showgirl Zone Competition in Walgett, New South Wales. She is a committee member of the Tamworth Pastoral and Agricultural Association.
