Hugh is a Southern Highlands lawyer and a Managing Director of the Stacks office in Bowral. Born and raised in the Southern Highlands, Hugh is excited to have the opportunity to return home and work in this beautiful part of the country.
Hugh joined Stacks after spending a number of years working in Canberra. During this time, he worked in residential and commercial conveyancing, wills and estates, commercial sales and leasing, and debt recovery. In 2017 he joined a personal injury firm, where he ran complex workers compensation, public liability, motor vehicle, superannuation and medical negligence claims.
Experienced in getting positive results for his clients, Hugh appreciates the opportunity to help people from all walks of life navigate complex legal systems, understand their rights and obtain a positive outcome in difficult circumstances.
He also enjoys general practice where he finds great satisfaction in helping people to reach their goals, such as achieving the exciting milestone of buying a family home, entering into a new business venture or attaining a favourable outcome following the compulsory acquisition of their property. He strives, as far as possible, to make the process simple and stress-free.
At Stacks, Hugh is continuing to work with small businesses and building on his experience in the building and construction/property development space. Hugh’s litigation experience has equipped him with skills to assist his clients as they navigate the decision to negotiate an amicable outcome, or take further legal action.
Hugh has an ability to connect with people from all walks of life, which assists him with establishing good relationships with clients. He is passionate about providing simple and clear legal advice, which avoids unnecessarily complex legal terminology. He has strong attention to detail and carefully considers the various scenarios which may present opportunities or risks for his clients.
Hugh was attracted to a career in law as he wanted to help people, particularly those without a voice. In law, he saw an opportunity to assist everyday people traverse the highs and lows of life.
Eager to return to regional community, Hugh has embraced the opportunity for himself and his young family to return to the beautiful Southern Highlands and be part of the local community.
Family life takes up much of Hugh’s time outside of work. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children, especially going on bushwalks, camping and playing music together. He and his family are also actively involved with their local church.
