Ian specialises in Compensation Law, handling work accident, public liability, motor vehicle accident, medical negligence, professional negligence and superannuation and insurance claims for individuals in New South Wales and overseas. He also conducts some commercial dispute matters. Originally from north east England, Ian gained his law qualifications in Liverpool (UK) and began working for the Port of London Authority, specialising in Maritime Law, where he handled commercial, industrial and insurance dispute matters. Arriving in Australia in 1977, Ian worked for Hunt and Hunt Solicitors, followed by Michell Sillar, then Gadens Lawyers, before joining the Stacks team in 1996 and becoming a Director in 2003.
Having acted both for and against large insurance companies, Ian has an excellent knowledge of all aspects of Compensation Law.
Ian has practised law in the UK and has run many cases for English clients who have been injured whilst in Australia. Ian has also conducted matters for clients in Turkey and New Zealand.
Ian is an enthusiastic supporter of alternative dispute resolution procedures and is accredited by the Law Society as an expert in Dispute Resolution. This is in addition to his accreditation as a Personal Injury specialist, which he has held for over 22 years.
