Jim is a solicitor in the Tweed Heads office. He has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws and is a member of the Law Society of NSW.
Jim has extensive experience as a lawyer. Most recently he was principal of Wilson Haynes solicitors in Tweed Heads. He has also worked in senior leadership roles in industry for a range of companies, including as general manager of smaller businesses, as well as CEO and CFO of medium-to-large unlisted and listed companies.
Jim practiced commercial and estates law in Brisbane CBD as a partner in a law firm, before moving to the Gold Coast with his wife, whose family has lived in Coolangatta for over 60 years.
He now works mainly in estate planning, property and business law, including agreements (constitutional, operating and commercial), business establishment, companies and trusts, purchases and sales of businesses, intellectual property and commercial litigation.
Jim has an interest in trademarks and also provides his clients with advice on aged care options.
Jim enjoys working in law, as he likes identifying and reaching outcomes which are to the satisfaction of his clients. Some of his accomplishments include establishing substantial businesses and settling major legal matters in relation to the ownership and running of businesses.
As a lawyer, Jim is highly organised, with excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail. He is a lateral thinker, who seeks first to understand, then be understood. Clients appreciate his years of experience and considered approach to their legal matters.
Outside of work, Jim likes to garden and spend time with his family, which includes four children and 11 grandchildren. A former Queensland state representative rugby player, he enjoys keeping fit with regular canoeing and swimming.
Jim also gives his times to various business groups, including the Chamber of Commerce and networking groups, and has been an active board member of community-based organisations and charities throughout his career.
