Having completed her law studies in 2014, Zohra works principally across property, debt recovery, bankruptcy and insolvency, family law, probate and family provision. She also has experience in litigation, including cross claims seeking rectification for a contractual mistake, declaratory relief and equitable estoppels, and in trusts, including creation of discretionary trusts and amending existing trust deeds by way of deed of variation or deed of appointment.
She has attended the Supreme Court, Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, Local Court and District Court for directions hearings and undefended final hearings.
The field of law appealed to Zohra’s interests in researching, problem-solving, public speaking and critically analysing situations. She is skilled in legal research and writing, with a natural ability for understanding and complying with processes.
Zohra demonstrates that communication is key to handling matters successfully. She is always upfront and honest with clients about their matter and what they can expect. Zohra engages with clients to recognise their true concerns. She continually supports clients with updates, to minimise frustration during potentially stressful times. Zohra also explains options to maintain focus on achieving the best possible outcomes.
Her experience in property spans retail lease agreements (including dealing with Crown land), standard sales and purchases, put and call option agreements and overseeing and coordinating the registration of deposited plans and strata plans.
She has appeared in the Supreme Court on debt recovery, bankruptcy and insolvency matters and has made applications to the court for directions to assist liquidators in undertaking company liquidations, including those of companies which act solely as a corporate trustee.
Zohra has also assisted liquidators and bankruptcy trustees with their investigations into insolvent companies and bankrupt estates. Other experience in this area includes negotiating terms of acquisition of a joint tenant’s interest in a bankrupt trustee’s estate and overseeing the entire debt recovery process from initial filing of proceedings.
Zohra’s experience in probate and family provision includes defending deceased estates from family provision claims, disputing the will of an estate on the grounds of duress and capacity and administering probate or letters of administration in respect of a deceased estate. She also has extensive experience in preparing wills, powers of attorney and enduring guardianship.
Zohra also works in family law and has run divorce applications and hearings in the Federal Circuit Court. She has experience in preparing consent order applications in respect of financial orders and contravention applications in regard to breaches of parenting orders. She has prepared and executed binding financial agreements and has made Supreme Court applications for adoption.
A fluent speaker of Farsi, away from work Zohra loves going to the movies, socialising over lunch with friends and reading. She completed her Masters of Laws (Business Law) in 2018.
