Robert was admitted as solicitor in 1997 after studying law at the University of Sydney while working full-time as a law clerk at a large Sydney firm. Before this Robert completed a degree in financial management at the University of New England. He brings together legal expertise and commercial accounting knowledge to provide his clients with all they need to make informed decisions about their commercial activities and personal assets.
Robert’s experience in commercial disputes began at a major Sydney law firm where he was part of a large litigation team working on multi-million dollar cases. His expertise, particularly in handling breaches of contracts, complements his advice to clients on their corporate and commercial ventures. It enables Robert to draft contracts that reduce the risk of future misinterpretations and breaches.
When his clients need advice on their commercial ventures, Robert advises them on the most suitable legal structure. He drafts and negotiates their commercial documentation, including partnership and business agreements, shareholder agreements, funded business succession agreements and trusts, as well as other business agreements, such as leases and contracts.
Robert takes time to understand his clients’ aims, both professional and personal. This enables him to tailor his advice to each client’s unique situation, however complex.
Robert has extensive experience in drafting wills including testamentary trusts and providing estate planning advice. He has given numerous presentations to groups on the importance of wills, testamentary trusts, powers of attorney, enduring guardians and estate planning and wealth protection strategies.
Robert also practices extensively in the area of will disputes and challenges to wills. He has acted for both the estate in upholding the will and also for people who have been left out of a will. Robert’s practical approach and commercial advice in acting in these matters ensure the best result is achieved for his clients.
Robert loves beach life and surfing and is an active member of the local surf life saving club.
